Role in the project "Learning Lives"
Quantitative analysis of primary and secondary survey data using longitudinal
and event history techniques to identify, monitor and evaluate life course
events that have a sustained impact on adult's learning opportunities, dispositions
and practices.
Background & Expertise
Before joining the Learning Lives team I worked as a Research Fellow
at the Local Government Chronicle Elections Centre, University of
Plymouth, collecting, collating and analysing historical local elections
data. My PhD thesis, sponsored by an ESRC studentship, combined
quantitative and qualitative methods and was awarded the Arthur McDougall
Prize by the Political Studies Association of Great Britain for best
dissertation in Elections, Electoral Systems and Representation. My
current research interests include the relationship between agency,
identity and learning in the life course, women's participation in
British politics, and the politics of place.
